Functional disease modelling for research and target discovery

Find drugs modulating targets and disease processes with proven link to human brain dysfunction.

Our approach to brain disease modeling focuses on the mechanisms and targets that cause abnormal brain function in epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases, neuropsychiatric disorders, neurodevelopmental, and rare diseases.

For instance, epilepsy is characterized by recurrent epileptic seizures, with distinct LFP and oscillatory characteristics revealed by scalp EEG recording. By inducing different pathological mechanisms, we have established different epilepsy human brain in vitro models characterized by specific local field potential patterns. We enable to identify which lead compounds and drug candidate prevent specific epileptiform activities and at what dose. Our in vitro data can be used for lead selection at early stages and to assist in patient stratification and determining starting doses in clinical trials.
